Mediterranean plants with fragrant leaves to be used in the kitchen with a natural appearance and colorful flowers, these are the demands of the young owner of a beautiful Milanese apartment with a south-facing terrace. He dreamed to use its outdoor space as a garden suspended over top floor overlooking the city rooftops. The project involved an important renovation of the terrace with the laying of a new raised floor in stoneware tiles for exteriors and a platform in natural wood slats for outdoors below which all the utilities are housed. A lightweight pergola in painted aluminum with stainless steel cables has been designed and custom built to shade the outdoor living area with a wonderful summer-flowering climbing shrub. The dining area is arranged below a electrically controlled curtain system with pergola, always custom designed , that shields both the sun and the rain. Within the new planters arranged on the terrace flooring, a border of perennial herbaceous plants was chosen for their rusticity and great resistance to exposure to the south so as not to need too much water. To make the composition pleasant, even in the winter seasons, small and medium evergreen shrubs have been included and are compatible with the strong wind exposure of this terrace. The furnishings selected for the spaces are simple, but of great comfort to give moments of conviviality and relaxation even in a city like Milan.
